When I first started seeing the boys in '77 and until somewhere in '80, where they started to pair it with various tunes (JBG, Good Love, Sat Nite etc.), this was a great rock tune that started sort of slow and funky and then picked up and rocked out at the end. One of my favorite versions is 10-27-79.

Just checked out that version.
I can almost like this tune.
I guess the problem I have with this tune and others like it is that it doesn't really tell a story.
I think most heads are like me in that they want to hear something that is going to capture their imagination and make them think - that's entertainment for people like us, otherwise we wouldn't like Dark Star so much. Around and Around is like bubble gum. It's fun once in a while - but not what I went to dead shows for.

Huh. Well, this'll probably further your dismissal of the song ;-), but it's one of the numbers I've always liked hearing with Donna. Yep, including the howls.
